Personally I am planning to glue myself to the cash machine outside my local branch in protest. Who's with me?
They'll probably just close the branch and leave you there.  :p

Yet if SonOfPearl's prediction is true, Nationwide's scheme will see an influx of people joining just on the off-chance they can get a "free" £100 next year.
Just to be clear, I didn't predict anything. I only gave my opinion that most people don't even know about the £100 and even less care. It seems highly unlikely this £100 payment scheme will have any significant effect on NW's membership by itself, good or bad. Most people will carry on regardless.
MSE clearly isn't representative and yes most people won't know or care enough to do anything, but even a small minority taking some sort of action could have an effect. Obviously the strawman some are building of this being their end is simply that, a strawman (ie imposing a vastly exaggerated or skewed view on others they can mock or argue against rather than argue against what they are actually saying).
Oh just as I thought we were becoming a team I see this dig at me :(
    Well that's about 5-1 then :D

Obviously the suggestion that this is the end of Nationwide was clearly framed as sarcasm
    QED
I think you probably need to take a breath and relax a bit on this topic. I think given that we are 23 pages in, and you've posted 4 different comments in the last 15 minutes, it's clearly not working throwing paragraphs of text at each other (and I'm happy to to find middle ground, see my previous above). Plus I'm increasingly getting 'thread fatigue'.

If it bothers you this much, I implore you to write letters to the CEO, or join the connect forum, and all the other things suggested in this thread, where it may (possibly) enact some change.

I am mostly just venting, though I have made my little protest. Don't see the point in adding to the probably ten of thousands of complaints which unlikely would be read properly. They're not now going to go back on this but I think they'll think more carefully next time.
Thing is I do (or did) like Nationwide, I recommended my kids use them, I've recommeded them on MSE loads of times, and even though I'm generally a serial switcher/rate tart NW is one bank I've stuck with long term, in fact other than my FD current account they're the only bank I've had active accounts with for decades.
Anyway you're right in that the thread is getting fatigued, even I'm bored with it. And there's so many of them, I've never known an issue generate as many separate threads on MSE as this. We'll see what happens, but I somehow doubt NW will repeat this in the same way.
    Last word! Unsubscribe.

    Nationwide AGM — MoneySavingExpert Forum

In June 2020, I wrote that we should vote against the Board's resolutions. I knew it would come to nothing then.
    But this year ?
I would say to all the many posters who are clamoring they would be leaving NW to think again.
They should at least keep some account in the Society so that they are eligible to vote,
Then we shall see if all the 75% unhappy members vote against the Board at the next AGM.
    Would be very interesting.

Unfortunately, whatever the eligibility criteria, someone will not be happy.

I agree. But from a marketing point of view, an idea that leaves 80% happy and 20% unhappy is likely to be better than one that leaves 20% happy and the other 80% unhappy.

Nationwide seem to have divested themselves of £340million doing the latter.

I’m a bit late to the party, I don’t wish to get involved in the politics of this hand out I just wanted to ask you learned folks, if one is going to get it would you have been notified by now, thanks for any help.

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

I got a message popping up when I logged into online banking the day it was launched. I also got the letter confirming it.
