As zagfles said, you'll need one for Slovenia as well if you're going that way. I've drove the other way (Croatia to Austria) a few years back and you could buy the Slovenian vignettes at certain Croatian petrol stations.  No doubt you can do the same in Austria.  Also https://evinjeta.dars.si/en

Vignettes are required in Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, some other countries have toll roads instead such as Croatia. We actually still had some tolls to pay crossing Austria on our way home last summer.

Thanks. Where did you travel from going past Austria?

It is mainly the high alpine passes and some of the tunnels that require additional tolls as they are very expensive to maintain / develop. There are also some private roads (mainly but not always at the end of valleys leading to tourist spots) that require tolls.
There is a map of the major ones on this site https://vignetteoesterreich.eu/ (note I am not saying you should buy from here, it's not the official road operators site)
Living the dream in the Austrian Alps.
