Refund and compensation for cancelled flight?

Last year Wizzair cancelled all flights from Doncaster airport 8 days before we were due to fly with them. They would not offer me alternative flights as I had booked through a holiday company (LoveHolidays). I was unable to get hold of LoveHolidays so I sourced and booked my own alternative flights as they were filling up quickly. These left from a less convenient airport and the outbound flight was considerably later than the cancelled one so we missed more than half a day of the holiday.
LoveHolidays refunded me the cost of the original flights and the extra £100 it had cost to book the new ones.
I applied for compensation from WizzAir and they responded by saying that they did not abide by regulation 261/2004 (!).
I went to ADR and they have now decided that WizzAir should pay me compensation for the outbound flight.
No mention is made of the inbound flight and I'm not sure if I should have submitted a separate claim for this - does anyone know? The difference is that the alternative return flight I found left around the same time as the cancelled flight, so there was no delay unlike with the outbound one.

How long was it between the notification of cancellation and the date of the inbound flight? If this was at least 14 days then they don't have to pay compensation, or if it was 7-14 days then compensation also isn't due if the replacement flight is around the same time....1

Thanks - it was 15 days for the inbound flight so I guess not eligible - they didn't actually offer me any alternative flights so I sourced my own.0
