Driving without tax?

    Because if he SORNs it, the car is still his until he's returned and can check out the new car.

    If the dealer takes ownership of the car, a few days before he buys his, it's going to be a bit of a mess to unwind. Of course, it's likely much lower risk if the new car is factory new and not used.

    The car i am buying still has one years manufacturers warranty on it ,as we will be abroad on holiday for the next fortnight we do not need a car and also have access to " sons taxi " ,thanks all for the help /info.

    Also because if OP sorns it he guarantees the day on which he will get any tax refund. If he leaves it to the garage they might let it roll over into the next month.
