Euro Automatic Cash ATMS - good for Santander cards

For those interested and could benefit.

Confirmation that ATMs of the Euro Automatic Cash network in Spain are commission fee free for UK Santander debit cards - same as if used at a regular Santander branded machine.

I wish I had known this last year when I had a couple of miles walking to find a Santander hole in the wall - when there was an EAC one much closer.

Update - it seems Santander have not been totally clear - the fee free deal outlined above appears to be only applicable to Spanish card holders.

So please be aware.

Final update.

After several months of trying to get a straight answer - Santander UK have now advised that Banco Santander have confirmed that UK debit cards are NOT fee free at the Euro Automatic Cash ATM network.

This benefit only applies to Banco Santander's Spanish debit card clients.

So, if you are a Brit wanting to use your card - only do so at FULLY BRANDED Santander ATMs - these are only located at their bank branches.

If you use Santander's ATM online locator it flags up these EAC machines, without differentiation.

Postscript

We were in Menorca recently and I had the opportunity to access a Euro Automatic Cash ATM - can now confirm that they are not fee free for Santander UK debit cards........only for those of domestic Banco Santander customers.

The markup fee was flagged at 3%.

Worst case scenario, with conversion, was £19.45 for €20.00 at exchange rate 0.972700 - I didn't accept of course.

Found a fully branded Banco Santander ATM at their nearby bank branch and took €50.00 without conversion for £42.50.

The TMSA buses only accept cash, hence the need for readies - incidentally what a great service, modern clean and comfortable air conditioned coaches - cheap as chips and good time keeping.
