Is switching from vodafone to a 3rd party worth it in this case? any cons?

I've been with vodafone for many years on a sim only deal, it's around 15 pounds a month. I've seen on sites such as talkmobile that there are much cheaper deals for the same package I have either with other networks which use Vodafone or I can sign up with Vodafone again but through a 3rd party. I've requested my PAC code to keep my number and am wondering if it's worth it in terms of service and call quality, as I've heard mixed things about the companys that piggy back on a big network. Also not sure how it would work if I stay with vodafone but sign up via a 3rd party and want to keep my number.

I'm tempted to just remain to avoid any hassle but could save almost 90 pounds over the year.

Any advice appreciated?

Talkmobile is Vodafone. Owned by Vodafone, run by Vodafone, is Vodafone! Voxi too.

Thanks, I'm just wondering is the service as good when you use these companies that piggyback on vodafones network in terms of call quality and customer service?

Customer service tends to be marmite, just depends on your experience. Most networks have good and bad days.
If you want to get a better deal with vodafone (and keep your number) you will either need to haggle over the phone or move away and then rejoin. If you create a new account you will find it difficult to swap your number over imo.

My wife and I are with Lebara which uses Vodafone’s network. No issues whatsoever and, when necessary, we get wifi calling. Number porting worked as advertised.

I recall that we each paid 1p/month for the first 6 months.

My experience - Vodafone customer service is dire, Voxi customer service is dire, Lyca Mobile customer service is dire. The network experience was exactly the same when it came to Voxi and Lyca, but be warned, Vodafone likes to restrict access to 5G and cap speeds on some of their plans, but not Voxi and Lyca. I have never been a Talk Mobile customer, so I have no idea what their network or customer service is like.

Aren't Lyca with O2? Don't you mean Lebara?

Thanks all, I think I will shop around then as it seems customer service is up and down among them all. I was tempted to stay with voda as it's less hassle but it might be worth it and it seems number porting has gone ok for most people.

Talkmobile appears identical signal to vodafone !
paying roughly 1/3 of vodafone charges
So - yes it IS worth the hassle ...
Wife with Lebara - same again

You don't have to move away from Vodafone if you are prepared to do a cashback deal with a 3rd party like mobiles.co.uk.
See this thread on HUKD - upgrade an existing Vodafone contract for 100GB data and unlimited mins and texts for £7.67 a month - but you will have to claim cashback from mobiles.co.uk during the contract.
