Getting refund from college – Help –Where to start? Feeling ripped off

Classroom education can be terrible quality and doesn't obey any of the ethics you would find in other services.
That's why udemy (and others) do so well. A bad teacher quickly gets bad reviews whereas the best teachers can make millions of dollars. I haven't tried it but yiu could probably get a refund on a bad course.
In 2023 you can pay a few hundred pounds and become qualified in the latest tech and start earning £60-80,000 a year
My degree in computing was more like this:
Sending someone down to the student bar to find the lecturer. He arrives 15 mins late and teaches us drunk.
Being forced to buy the rubbish book written by the lecturer as a "set text" so he could make money out if us
Being taught very old technology because the lecturers refused to learn anything new.
No refunds or compensation...1 -
I'm presuming you rasied all these concerns during the entirety of the course and didn't just wait for it to finish to highlight the issues?

I don’t think it’s realistic to expect a full refund when you’ve done the course and passed it. Did you complain at the time? What did you expect to learn that didn’t happen? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -

To me it seems like an open and shut case but they are refusing to refund the money.
It does seem to be an open and shut case, but not in the direction you think.
You paid for a course. Open.
You received a course and passed it. Shut.1 -
The certificate is worthless. The course was worthless. I have it in writing that the course was not to good standard apparently because it was the first time they ran the course, but this really isn't my problem what is my problem is they knew it was not to a good standard and still took the money. Now I am on this forum because I and think rightly so should be entitled to a refund.0

I didn't receive the teaching I was promised and payed for.
Seems like a lot of trolling on here I'm surprised Martin Lewis puts his name to it.0 -
Giving answers you disagree with doesn’t make people trolls. You haven’t answered at which point you raised your concerns with the provider. When you say the certificate is worthless, is it being accepted by HE providers or not? Was it accredited in any way? Did you check out who would accept it before paying your money?
Have you exhausted their formal complaints procedure, which seems to have a couple of stages? Is your course one where you can go to an external body if you’re not happy with the result of the complaint?
ETA - what about the other people on the course, were they equally concerned? Wondering if there’s a joint approach if that would make any difference. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
The course was a rip off. Of course I have records etc That is beside the point what I asked is who I contact. I came on this site because of my trust of Martin Lewis I don't expect silly and sarcastic comments.0

There's no helping some people. If you've got the records and you're sure it's an open and shut case, send a Letter Before Action and start a claim in the Small Claims Court.1
