Hi, I want to watch a 2nd tv in a different room, some way away. Have drilled threw walls. 30 feet. Have an old (10yrs+) Maxview signal booster.
1.) Lead from Maxview for Freeview - continuous lead - to back of tv in 2nd room. 'Round' standard fitting on both ends.
2.)    "       "           "         "   Sky - 'round' fitting into Maxview, 30 feet on,, a HDMI fitting... joined to another HDMI lead with a 'join up' fitting. Futher 10 feet then into TV.

I get no signal on TV 2 from either

\Are the leads too long? Would a new/proper booster help? (recommendations pl). Will I never get a Sky signal from the lead (booster or not), because I need/pay, something special from sky??   TIA

I presume you have both a terrestrial aerial and a satellite dish in order to attempt these connections. Unless you have a combined freeview and freesat tv then you will need a compatible box/boxes to convert the signal. I'm also a bit confused about the Sky connection with joins of cable to hdmi.

Generally I would have thought the freeview option should work but really need a bit more information about your tv and freeview and freesat (Sky box?) equipment.

Thanks. I can live without the Sky to another room - forget that
I have just extended the aerial from the one room to another with a 30 foot lead,, but get no signal. Is the length of the lead a problem? Yhe old signal booster does nothing.

Are you daisychaining it by chance?  Ie you're not plugging an extension into another cable and connecting that to the TV?  Because that's not going to work.  It needs to be one long cable.

You can feed multiple TVs from the one aerial with a splitter and/or amplifier:

I salute all of the above who appear to understand the OPs post, I don't have a clue what any of that means ;)

Thanks Neil.   Aerial into amplifyer, then 30 feet cable to next TV (so that's not "one long cable")

Might be helpful if you told us which booster you've got - Maxview make lots of different ones. Either a model number or a piccy would help. Does the booster have a mains lead or is there a separate power supply for it (boosters don work without power). Is the power supply working OK

Have you used decent coax cable and terminated it properly - its easy to get whiskers from the shield short out the centre conductor.

    Do some easy fault finding

1- can you get a signal from the aerial cable direct into the TV before connecting the extension cable - if so the aerial should be OK
2- can you get a signal from the aerial, through the booster to the TV using a short cable to the TV from the booster - if so then the booster is probably OK

3 - if it all works in 1 & 2 and you cant get a signal down 30ft of coax after the booster then its likely that you've got a dodgy extension cable
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
