    Who sent the notice?

Is the council  not stated on the notice?

... Having said that I'm not disputing it, it was in a town I had been in...thanks Google maps. But the letter I had been sent only had a street name, no postcode either, I actually had to Google it to find out which town the "offence" occured in. A massive long shot but could that be a technicality for getting off...
I'd have thought that if the PCN really didn't give the location of the town then you would have been disadvantaged with respect to checking signage etc.

But as @sheramber has asked, wasn't it obvous which town it was from the name of the local authority that issued it?

As others have said go over to pepipoo.  Many councils simply rely on people coughing up for PCNs that can often be overturned without too much trouble.

(NB - I presume if it had been in London you would have mentioned it.  If it was London, definitely get over to pepipoo as they have been exploting the fact that many London Boroughs have been enforcing bus lane contraventions using video cameras that have not been properly authorised for that purpose.  The outcome being that PCNs resulting from the use of such cameras are unenforceable.)

It was from a COUNTY council, not a town council. So I couldn't tell which town it involved. Lancashire to be precise.

Is it definitely real? There’s been some scammers making fake penalty claim notices.
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)

Were you actually disadvantaged, given that you've found the road in question? I don't think that argument would fly.

So you'd need to look at the actual incident - was it clearly marked and were you there when it was operating as a bus lane? Lots of them around here are only active during peak hours. Given you're looking for a loophole I think you know you're in the wrong.

But realistically, if they've got a video of you in a bus lane when it's operating as a bus lane, you're best just paying up. What's your time worth compared to the £35?
