Just to let you know, assuming hand luggage only, you can get the bus to the coach station for £2 each if you can do this in a single connection.
Oh I should have added that the £2 offer stops in June, before we go.
It will run now until October, you can check the route here.

We can get as far as Cambridge for £2 or Heathrow for £4, so it makes sense if you can save.

For £8 vs £15 it's probably not worth your nerves though, especially for a first holiday. Naturally any savings will depend on how you value your time also

Thanks everyone for all the advice. We ended up booking a return flight from Gatwick to Charles de Gaulle, staying 3-nights with 2 days spent at Disney. Staying at a lovely 4 star hotel (chosen by my son) just outside the park. I don't think we'll travel into Paris this time, as we'll only have the morning free on the third day and its enough to try and organise everything within the park. There is also a small town a 5 minutes walk from the hotel where we can buy food (property is self-contained) to try keep the price down.
We also booked an open return coach ticket transfer to Gatwick, for £135.60. Cheaper than a taxi transfer (£150 each way) and more reliable than taking the train. The return flights (window seats), accommodation and Disney tickets cost £1355, so over our budget, but £400 or so of that is the Disney tickets. Still have to add taxi to the coach station and the train or metro to Disneyland, where we get the free shuttle to the hotel but very happy to have finally got everything booked!
It will be worth it to make my son happy but we'll be living on bread and water until then lol.
Your holiday is costing you roughly what I spent on going away for a month, visiting an art gallery in Spain; diving in Thailand; exploring a historic city in Laos; trekking in the Himalayas; and breaking my journey at a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi.

I know, it's extortionate, the park entry tickets alone were around £400. Your 'holiday' sounds wonderful. This trip has been dictated by my son (and my need for a short flight) but as I become more confident and experienced I can make more cost effective choices.

Thanks CK, good to know. Yes, I don't think I can be doing with all the hanging around waiting for 2 buses to turn up on time (or not) for the sake of a few pounds. Normally I would but not when there is a coach to catch on time and we are carrying luggage. Thanks for the helpful suggestion though.
