Yes they are forgetting the time difference.  However this has the benefit of the return trip only taking about 15 minutes!

It is easy to get from EuroDisney to central Paris where you should stay at least one night to see the sights.Eurostar itself is an exciting experience the first time to get on a train in one capital city and arrive at another in little over the same time as Bournemouth to Waterloo. Each journey priced separately according to train time,

I have to say that I was realy underwhelmed by Eurostar, but I agree that spending some time in Paris is mandatory.

Please do remember that returns are generally cheaper than one ways on most modes of transport.

Most but not all. Low-cost airlines only sell one-way tickets, so there is unlikely to be any financial penalty if you 'mix and match'.

I very often do just this!

Trip started this morning is one airline out, another back, mainly for convenience over anything else.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. We ended up booking a return flight from Gatwick to Charles de Gaulle, staying 3-nights with 2 days spent at Disney. Staying at a lovely 4 star hotel (chosen by my son) just outside the park. I don't think we'll travel into Paris this time, as we'll only have the morning free on the third day and its enough to try and organise everything within the park. There is also a small town a 5 minutes walk from the hotel where we can buy food (property is self-contained) to try keep the price down.
We also booked an open return coach ticket transfer to Gatwick, for £135.60. Cheaper than a taxi transfer (£150 each way) and more reliable than taking the train. The return flights (window seats), accommodation and Disney tickets cost £1355, so over our budget, but £400 or so of that is the Disney tickets. Still have to add taxi to the coach station and the train or metro to Disneyland, where we get the free shuttle to the hotel but very happy to have finally got everything booked!
It will be worth it to make my son happy but we'll be living on bread and water until then lol.

Oh and I booked through Magic Breaks as they seem to have good reviews and be the agent people use the most for booking Disney outside of the park. Hopefully this may be useful fir anyone reading this considering booking the same.

Just to let you know, assuming hand luggage only, you can get the bus to the coach station for £2 each if you can do this in a single connection.

Thanks for the suggestion CK. A day rider (2 buses to the travel interchange) is £6.80 each and the taxi £14.90 so for convenience sake it makes sense to go by taxi. Good point though as usually the bus would work out a lot cheaper. Thanks.

Oh I should have added that the £2 offer stops in June, before we go.
