I searched the forum for something similar but can't find a similar case to mine. We had a flight cancelled by Easyjet and was put on the flight for the next day. Flight was cancelled due to staff going over their allocated hours. We booked another flight that was leaving in 4 hours later with Pegasus. We came back home on the return Easyjet flight. When I filled out the compensation form on Easyjet website I got a reply pretty quickly saying because we never got on the re-arranged flight we wasn't entitled to compensation. But it was obvious we did go to destination as we came back on the other flight we booked. Has anyone been in this situation and was successful in claiming compensation. Thanks in advance.

Are you seeking compensation (per fixed tariff) or reimbursement of the alternative flight costs, or both?
Compensation would be due unless the underlying reason for the crew going out of hours was beyond the airline's control - you obviously can't have travelled on a flight that was cancelled, but compensation for the cancellation (under article 7 of the regulations) isn't dependent on whether or not you took a rearranged flight (under article 8).
For reimbursement, did you inform EasyJet that you were rejecting their proposed rerouting and clarify that you were expecting them to pay for you to fly with Pegasus?

I never informed them that I wouldn't be getting on the proposed re- arranged flight as I had read not to cancel the flight as getting a refund would make you ineligible for compensation.
Ideally would want the compensation for flight cancelled and the cost of the new flight we paid for, was £58 pound each x3 but getting the compensation only will cover the costs.
Thanks for replying have been putting off chasing up but I need to get to the bottom of it now.0
