Mud flap hanging off

It seems to ‘clip’ on (not sure how to describe it) but although I can get it back into place, it won’t stay there for long. Any potholes or bumps in the road knocks it off again. To save money, I was thinking of sticking it on with gorilla glue. Would this be ok? I don’t want to destroy the paintwork and cause rust.

If not, is this something any local mechanic could fix or would I have to take it to the dealership for the correct parts?

It’s a 2014 Volkswagen Up. It’s the back left mud flap.

Cheapest solution is to take it off completely and throw it away.

Try a local garage or mobile? Would be a lot cheaper than a main dealer 😱

Self tapping screw into the wheel arch liner will do the job.

Only really needed for farm tracks. Throw them all away - they increase wind resistance / drag and increase fuel consumption - defo not very MSE.

If they are on the front, keep them as they prevent corrosive salt and paint stripping grit being flung over the bodywork.

If they are on the back, and you don't tow a caravan they aren't needed as they prevent said corrosive salt and grit going on the car behind- he shouldn't drive that close ;)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I’d worry that without the mud flaps, a stone might end up hitting the car behind and then I’d be liable if the insurer classes removing them as a ‘modification’. Also, I do drive on farm tracks.

I went to a local mechanic yesterday and he hadn’t a clue how to fix it.

Not much of a mechanic 🤔 if he can’t attach a mud flap

Did you declare them as a modification when they were fitted?
