Hello all Mse's. I have recently joined o2 on a sim only at £12 pm. The guy from virgin signed me up at the same time as joining Virgin...fine. I explained to the guy in my home, that I wasn't a fan of virgin mobiles as I had a previous bad experience regarding me receiving my bill before I even got the sim. The guy laughed and said something like, well sir, we don't do that and don't know why virgin would have done that. Anyway, low and behold, o2 (bought through the virgin guy in my home) have now done the same thing. I explained to the guy at the time that our contract with ee ends in a few weeks and I wanted the contract to start then, he assured me this was going to be the case. When I spoke to him with regards to receiving my bill before the sim, which still hasn't arrived, he said oh sorry, did I not explain it properly?! Do you know where I stand as I took the sim as part of a virgin deal which doesn't start until 14th May. I wrongly thought the sim would also start then, please advise. I am within the 14 day cooling off period still.
Thanks

What data, text and call allowance are you getting with the £12 O2 deal? And what is the contract length?
You may well be better off cancelling the existing O2 sim within the cooling off period and sorting out a new contract independently of the guy from Virgin.

Do you specifically want to be on the O2 network, or would other networks be OK?

Has EE been OK for you? If so you could call them and ask for a PAC number, saying you intend to leave them. Chances are they will be able to offer you all sorts of good deals to stay with them. A PAC number is what you need to move your mobile phone number to a different supplier. If you don't use the PAC number, your contract with EE will stay in place until it runs out on the 14th MAy. After that EE will move you to a new tariff with rates that they should advise you on beforehand.

Is your Virgin deal linked to the O2 SIM deal (Volt)? If not then just cancel it.
  • If this deal isn't what you want then cancel it and get something that suits you better
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

The o2 deal is tied in with the Virgin deal. Includes 10gb data and unlimited calls and texts. I have been out of contract with Sky since last September. I was with them for calls and Broadband but speed in my area is limited to around 30mg per second with all providers apart from Virgin, hence why I joined them. I'm usually pretty clued up to these things, but it was the way in which the salesman sold me the package, lied about the start date of the sim etc and then said oh sorry, did I not explain that but even though I had conversed with him and conveyed my disgust in which virgin mobile had started off by them sending me the bill before the sim. I did explain this to him and also explained that I didn't want the contract to start until my contract had ran out...I was explicit about it.

It's a poor O2 deal, regardless of it starting now or in a few weeks. O2 deals at USwitch have 50GB for £12/mth or 15GB for £7.99.

Only you can decide if being p1ssed at the salesman is worth canning the whole deal, sounds like you don't have a fallback solution for broadband.

Is the O2 mobile service OK at your location? Just in case you haven't tried it.

You'll have to work out if the VM broadband deal without the Volt bit (is it a speed reduction?) is still good enough.
