Rather amateurish website and I can’t find them on TrustPilot, despite them quoting all their 5-star reviews. I’m always very wary of these no win, no fee outfits…corky23 said:
Here you go. You don't have to have lost out due to the breach. This is the firm I've contactedRSTime said:

Boyjohn - you can freeze your credit score - see above. I've been hacked as well so not only will I be doing that but going to a lawyer, as data breaches, which cause distress but no financial loss, still requires a settlement.
I was annoyed when my provider moved the pension administration from an internal group company to Capita, given all the known issues with Capita and knowing that the only reason the move was taking place was "cost cutting."
https://data-breach.com/capita-data-breach-compensation/Small print at the bottom says they are "a trading name of Evans Hughes Ltd", which is listed on Companies House as having been incorporated in 2020 https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12573301. You can get their latest financial statement from that site.Evans Hughes website suggests they are a claims management company https://www.evanshughes.co.uk/Some of these types of firms do not have a very good reputation. I know nothing about this one.1 -
I posted a link to a different firm on the separate thread here, although I think DullGreyGuy's comments immediately following my post are well worth noting.corky23 said:

CIFAS Protective Registration costs £25 for two years.TheBanker said:
Protective Registration doesn't impact your credit eligibility. But it will mean applications take longer to process as human intervention is required. The bank I work for recommend CIFAS Protective Registration if a customer tells us their personal details have been compromised.Umiamz said:
Everything I’ve read about CIFAS markers is that they can seriously impact your credit rating. I’m not sure whether this includes Protective Registration but it seems like a last resort to me.frugalfran said:Read about CIFAS as an extra layer of protection, is this perhaps another layer of protection tion?
I'm surprised that CIFAS Protective Registration doesn't seem to be offered by hacked organisations while Identity Protection from the likes of Experian and Kroll often is. Are they doing the same thing? Too expensive?0 -

An elderly relative of mine has been written to about this Capita data breach by the pension scheme trustee and offered a 12 month free subscription to Experian "Identity Plus" by way of an apology (I think that's the motivation). Anyway, I was a bit suspicious about this offer although the website quoted is the Experian site. Am I being paranoid? I was tempted to advise my relative to ignore the offer. They are stressed out enough worrying about the data breach.0

Moribund - it’s genuine. I’ve been hacked (Diageo pension fund) and was offered the same. It’s poor compensation.moribund said:An elderly relative of mine has been written to about this Capita data breach by the pension scheme trustee and offered a 12 month free subscription to Experian "Identity Plus" by way of an apology (I think that's the motivation). I’ve had the same offer (USS) and an activation code has been provided. Unfortunately the subsequently created account, does not have the promised free access to Experian ID Plus so now, that needs sorting. What a palaver.1

The Experian offer is not compensation. They will be offering it so that if there is an ICO investigation, they can present the offer of Experian subscriptions as mitigation to try to reduce any fine.
More than likely that their insurers are paying for it rather than Capita themselves.1 -
Exactly the same happened when I tried to activate the USS provided free Experian Identity Plus service. I contacted Experian, who could not resolve the problem their end, but asked me to follow the steps below, which fixed the issue. Basically just follow the original sign up process, but when the system recognises you already have an account then follow the login instructions, all should then be correct.tooldle said:I’ve had the same offer (USS) and an activation code has been provided. Interesting. My OH has had the USS activation code, and appears to have set things up satisfactorily (no payment requested), but as far as I remember from watching the process, this step was actually your step 4.
Time will tell I suppose.
