Currently living and working temporarily in Portugal (Lisbon). Had been a fan of my Chase card up to now and only ever used it for card purchases where I always achieved the interbank rate (currently 1.19). On trying to withdraw cash on two occasions now, the ATM has offered an exchange rate of 0.95 instead of the 1.19 rate. Had a very frustrating online chat session with Chase who couldn't offer any help, and suggested that the rate being offered by the ATM included hidden fees, and advised me to check with the banks from which I was trying to withdraw money. Never experienced this issue with Revolut - if a cash machine is going to charge a fee, it's fairly obvious as it tells you before you complete the withdrawal. It seems that with Chase, you just can't get the interbank rate via ATMs, and they're just not upfront about that.
You always select in local currency. Not the rip off rate suggested by the ATM
