Strimmer spool problem

Hi
I have a Titan petrol strimmer/multitool and need to replace the line in the spool. The cap should just unscrew anticlockwise but after a few years of use, it’s tightened itself.
It’s now rotating and not gripping on the shaft. Going by a YouTube vid, it’s on a square nut inside.
Should really have undone this regularly from new but didn’t realize. Only way I can see how to remove it is to cut the cap off somehow.
Any ideas appreciated.

Break it off. I assume replacement part available online.

Would a oil filter wrench and a set of molegrips get you the grip to undo.

Try wedging something between the cap and the flat disc part underneath. With some levering you may be able to get it to come off the nut, or if not maybe able to snap it into a few places then get the nut undone to replace it

Problem is, it's a Titan, not a Stihl

Good idea. I used some expandable grips initially but still tight.
Used a bit of WD40 inside and now it turns on the spindle.

I see what you mean. These tools are good value but more expensive gets a better design.
I paid £80 a few years ago and thought great VFM. I don't think there's any info in the manual about this part tightening with use.

Try a bit of gentle heat, but be careful, otherwise it’s a new part…are you sure it’s not LH thread?

Yes. Arrow for OFF is anti-clockwise.
