Definitely driveway - but I would try and avoid shared driveway/access with a neighbour.
The driveway is actually shared with the neighbour if you’re meaning there is no fence or separation between the two houses driveway. What issue would shared driveway pose?
That’s not “shared” then, so not a problem.

The reason why you missed the first house with a driveway is because you weren't meant to have it. It's done, let it go.

Another vote for driveway btw, for so many small innocuous reasons that all add up.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.

If it’s shared with no fence dividing, you can only hope the neighbours are considerate when opening their car doors and do not bang into yours. Or like my friend who has this set up, neighbour doesn’t have a car but uses driveway to store endless rubbish, broken bikes and a used settee.

Driveway (and I dont have a car). My drive has been used for skips, by visitors, workmen and neighbours (they always ask).
Wouldn't buy a house without one.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Are properties indentical otherwise? Makes sense to have a driveway if they are, but if the one without is in a nicer area, I'd choose the nicer area with allocated parking.

As another poster mentioned is the allocated  parking right next to the property ?
Will you have one ot two allocated parking spaces ? Next to each other ?
Can you see your car from your front window / master bedroom window ?
Can you get a discount because you don't have a drive  ?
Free legals, stamp duty paid, upgrades ie better kitchen or bathroom/s. Garden fencing and turf ???

Properties are all identical except the one with allocated parking has upgraded kitchen and main bathroom.

It is in the front in between pavement and a wide strip of grass but can still see the car. The allocated parking has upgraded kitchen and bathroom so not sure if that outweighs more compared to driveway. My only worry is the future with electric cars and electric charging point along with people may not care how wide they open their car doors.
How far from the property is the allocated parking? Think of the practical things of unloading shopping, kids etc
imo a property with driveway will be easier to sell on also

I don't like shared. Imagine washing your car and basically washing the neighbours at the same time. It makes me uncomfortable sharing a drive like that.

I have what you’d consider a shared driveway. It’s a shared entrance leading to two garages next to each other, one being mine and the other my neighbours. I do have a separate parking spot further on though no where near the neighbours land and that is generally the spot we park in.

It’s been pain free in all honesty. Haven’t encountered any issues at all. Saying that if I were to buy again I’d still favour a completely independent driveway over a shared one.
