What would be your preference and does one have more advantage over the other over saleability?

Driveway is definitely better - might find someone keeps borrowing your allocated parking2

Someone else is less likely to park on your driveway. Even even if someone doesn't park in your allocated parking spot, the people who own the adjacent spots might park inconsiderately.
And it will be a lot easier and cheaper to charge electric cars on your own driveway. You might not have an electric car now but you probably will in the future.
All things equal, I'd say 5K more for a driveway is worthwhile. And will be when you sell on.

Hi, another vote here for driveway. As kinger101 says above, it will be good for resale value too.
Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. My brother has allocated parking - 2 spaces at the back of the property. They use the back door for entry/exit.
However they couldn’t have a driveway as the front is a pathway then grass and a stream.
They don’t have problems with people parking in their spots, they are also numbered0 -
I would always choose a driveway over allocated parking. In fact I wouldn't really consider buying a house without one0

Ownership is also a consideration. Allocated parking may not be part of the property freehold, hence why its cheaper and you will merely have a right to park a vehicle.
That for me is reason to avoid.2 -
Driveway even if it costs more. Mostly because of reading on the motoring forum about management companies bringing in parking firms to "ticket" cars and people getting PCNs and taken to court even though they have parked correctly in their own spot. No one needs that hassle.
fyi - I expect there isn't any parking firm associated with the place at this point but it always seems to occur if some residents have too many visitors or forget where they should leave the Rolls.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. You may not be allowed to install a bollard as allocated parking doesn't always mean you own the space, merely that you have the right to park there.1 -
