loyalbills.com fraud/Chase

Hi, has anyone else had any experience of loyalbills.com? I was alarmed to find three attempted transactions totalling just under £1000 from this US company on my Chase account, all within three minutes of each other very late at night three days ago. Fortunately they were declined due to insufficient funds. What is even more horrifying was that Chase had made no attempt to alert me to potential fraudulent activity on my account. Given that the card has not left my possession and the card details are not on the card itself but only stored in the app it was very disturbing. According to the loyalbills.com website I was "discreetly billed" ?? for purchase or subscription from a video entertainment website and to find out exactly what that is you can ring customer services (in America on a premium number) or email (which gets ignored). As I know no such subscription or purchase has been made I contacted Chase and was advised to change my card details which can be done in their app. However it does not explain how this company got hold of my details in the first place and gives me no confidence to keep any large sums in that account. As they now pay 1% interest and 1% cashback I had planned to use this for everyday spending but am now having a major rethink.

Any feedback most appreciated

Do you use the Chase card to make online purchases? Details could have been compromised at another retailer.

  • Quick update, My email to loyalbills.com was answered by LoyalFans.com who asked for my email, user id and card details as they had no record of me as a customer (no surprise there as I had never heard of them until now!)

I realise account details can be compromised by online purchasing but I would have thought three attempts totalling nearly £1000 in US dollars would be a red flag to any bank yet Chase took no action to alert me to the potential fraud. Had I had sufficient funds  in the account and the transactions gone through I think I would have had a nightmare trying to prove whatever pay to view/subscriptions were nothing to do with me as the company seem to have no accountability. Chase's lack of vigilance in identifying abnormal acrivity  is very worrying.

Please say that you didn't give your card details to the caller.

Do agree that it seems lax of Chase not to query this "atypical" transaction.

Had to swap from contactless to PIN in Asda yesterday for a security check on my Chase debit card, was £14.

Same thing happened to me 6 attempts of fraud on my account within 20 minutes so now my Wife and i have had to close our accounts as to get no notice of fund to be taken without any notification message is very poor.  The good news we where given the funds back but would not be happy to have a large amount with them .

Hi All, I had been scammed as well just 2 days back. I got notification from Chase bank indicating transaction declined to Loyalbills and only when I logged into the mobile app I realised that this was 8th attempt and all previous attempts of taking hefty money from my account were successful (450+ each). All these transactions happened within flash of sec and I immediately removed remaining balance from my account. Lost nearly 3100 pounds 😌
I was completely shocked and immediately contacted bank to discuss what exactly has happened and what needs to be done next. Was advised to reach out to the Merchant so did bit of research (infact got hold of this forum discussion too) and to my surprise it was billed to LoyalFans !!!!!! website in US dollars. What a horrible experience and in distress again called bank to ask why no 3DS authorisation was in place and why the alert was issued in 8th attempt and not earlier.
In mean time, I reached out to merchant on email where a lady did respond quite promptly assuring that they have identified the account n blocked it and assured me that transactions are in pending state and their department will reject the pending transactions and refund me the money. I then kept chasing them for an update and was completely annoyed when I noticed that all payments went through this afternoon (2 days from scam) and now Chase bank needs to file dispute case to get my money back.
Chase bank has promised to give provisional money until the case is concluded. Can’t believe this has happened!!!
According to bank my virtual card was compromised …

Sorry to read this. At least Chase are being supportive. I expect this could happen at any bank, and not necessarily a problem just with chase?

They fobbed you off. It's their business, not yours, to refund the money and chase (pun intend) the fraudulent transactions.
