Hi Lilypoo, on the self insuring on the pets, I know it can feel that you are saving money by not insuring should something not happen, however my dog got very unwell back in February, we would have done anything to try and help him and his vet bills came to over £10,000 in the end. Unfortunately we lost him anyway but thankfully due to insurance we only paid out a £99 excess. I know if I didn't have insurance I would have found anyway possible to find this money regardless.

So it's been a relatively quiet month. The computer from Mr marks bank has mostly stopped calling and writing but I have received my default notice from them after 3 missed payments. I'm hoping the actual default takes a couple more months to show as I need to rebuild my savings pot for future bills. This month I've got car insurance and service to pay for. Next month its pet insurance renewal. I have decided , following the post from @outoftheviciouscircle above to go ahead and continue paying for this .am hoping I can do it in one annual payment rather than monthly.

Other than that ,life has been quiet. Fed up of the weather. I really feel for those of you with kids on school holidays when it's continuous rain.

I've been poor at sticking to my grocery shopping budget. It's criminal that the cost of eating healthily is so expensive. But I've managed to curtail my book and wool habits and am working my way through my accumulated stashes of both.

Had a few extra shifts at work so that's helping, but I've bern lazy with surveys so need to get back into that this week.

Hoping the computer from llo?ds follows Mr Marks and sends a default letter too then can start thinking about the dmp getting started.

    Hope you're all well x

I've just donated my stash to a group who use it to help people get out in the community.

I'm new to underatanding about DMP. Do you need a default letter to apply?

Sounds like you have a plan anyway and when it comes to money, plans are a good start. I agree about the food though. I'm dairy and gluten intolerant and it's extortionate managing my diet. I've opted for reading labels and buying more everyday stuff. It's only cereal that I need to buy now. I don't like the bread so much so don't eat it.

No, but generally it is advised on here to stop paying, accumulate an emergency fund (EF) for things like washer or car repairs etc, and when defaults are recorded to then set up your DMP. Also that time can be used to set up a realistic budget with amounts to save for future bills such as car service, MOT, annual payment of insurances etc.

    Hi willow tree

I did the same a few years ago, even sold some on marketplace ...I can only guess that wool reproduces like rabbits! Lol

Someone mentioned an app recently where you put in your library card details and can borrow digital copies  but I've forgotten the name of it. I've still got a good number of old books I haven't read or wish to reread but once that's done I shall Google the app and sign up to that I think.

I'm trying  to cut out ultra processed foods AND do the 30 plants a week thing. Do you have a bread maker? I know some of them have a gluten free setting so you can bake your own ...not  sure it would be any more appetising though.

My dad sometimes makes his own. It is nicer, but very stodgey and it's not something I can say I enjoy eating.  X

I honestly didn't mean to change your plans, I just know how precious our pets are and we would go to the end of the earth to save them should the worst happen.
