    Yep, like a lot of gardening it's down to planning and thinking ahead, years ahead in some case like fruit trees, but well worth the wait as you see it beginning to look like you wanted

    For the average garden, Timperley Early takes a lot of beating - it's early and very robust.. Don't waste your money sowing seed unless you have a lot of time and enjoy the hit and miss chance of getting a good result. Similarly, don't buy a pathetic little fragment of a crown in a plastic bag from a chain store, or one of those pretend pot grown specimens you find in the average garden centre. They will take a few years to reach useful maturity. Buy a crown from a specialist supplier and get one that is two years old if you can. Blackmoor Nurseries in Somerset or Pennard Plants can both be recommended but there are others. .
