Hubby’s pension is rubbish- mine is NHS so will prob pay me lump sum of about £60k + £1000-1500/mth as recent changes to NHS pensions has of course reduced its value.
Probably best to keep a sense of perspective. The NHS pension is still very good and if you were to move to a job in the private sector , you could need up to a 25% pay increase just to compensate for the pension alone.
Your Hubby's pension may be rubbish compared to yours, but still will be free money from the employer and with tax relief.1 -
Clear ALL the debts, including any loans, credit cards that left. Then the mortgage.
Then an emergency pot of savings in a higher interest account, then add what you can to your pension0 -
Marcus Bank pays 3.5%.
Tandem, Chip all pay more0 -
Noting your comments about credit card debt etc - Don’t leave too much in an easily accessible account, the temptation to start spending it would be great.0

I’d set up like this;
feb payment 2024. The amount in 1 year fixed rate account
feb 2025 fixed payment for the year in 2 year fixed
feb 2026 - pay off the mortgage.
this way you’re fixing the amounts and you’ve definitely got it and no way to touch it either0
