Halfords Damage

Hi guys,
So I’ll cut straight to the chase, I took my car to Halfords for a stereo fitting that I’d previously bought, I’d left the car with them for a couple of hours while it was fitted. I picked it up, the stereo worked great, really happy. It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed a really deep scratch on my dashboard, so deep there is actually a chunk missing out of it. I’ve emailed Halfords about it with a picture, I’m still awaiting a response, after I’d sent it though I’ve discovered more damage, small scuffs where they’ve pried the stereo surround off, small scratches on the inside of my windscreen, there’s fabric sticking out the bottom of my dials (didn’t see this before as the top of the steering wheel blocks my view of the bottom of the dials) and adhesive finger prints on the dashboard that I can’t clean off. I’ve also noticed my mileage indicator is flashing on and off.

I really don’t understand what an earth happened in them 2 hours to cause so much damage. It isn’t going to be a cheap repair, I don’t know how they’d fill a dashboard that’s missing a chunk out of it.
I don’t really have any experience with anything like this so like I said before I have emailed the resolutions department, but what else do I need to do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance 🙏

Nothing to do at this stage other than await their response. Just have all the details and photos of the damage ready, and come back if you need more advice if you're not happy with their response.
In summary, they have a duty to carry out the work with due care and attention. They'll have to put right any damage or marks, but you don't have a right to new-for-old, so for example, if the dashboard is irreparably scratched, you're not entitled to a whole new dashboard.1 -

Did you not go back to the store? They will want to see the damage for themselves. I would have turned around and gone straight back.0

Sometimes it is inevitable that some scratches may occur in removing and fitting an item into a dashboard. I think people can be a little too fussy about scuffs & marks.0
