You sometimes have to wonder at the wasted effort when gullible victims just ignore advice and end up paying the scammers...  :s

Well done detective @fisherjim, a solid 30 seconds work there.

This was intentional. You will see from the questions I asked in posts 2 & 3, they were not reliant on any previous information - I was just asking questions that could be answered without requiring context.

Rather than 'giving the regulars the runaround' I was actually trying to be helpful by not confusing matters with unrelated information - instead letting people focus on the question.

Anyway, I paid. I didn't want to, but honestly, some things in life take priority. I get that many people here are heavily invested in sticking it to these parking firms, and good on you all for that. Myself, and many others no doubt, appreciate the time and effort spent, but sometimes other things are more important.

Besides, 2 days after paying, the money appeared back in the account. I assumed they were being clever and wanted to force a court appearance to make a point of things, but I spoke to the court and they confirmed the hearing had been cancelled / dismissed or someting along those lines. I also logged into the payment portal and checked, and it still said payment received with no balance outstanding.

I'd love to know why, but I'm not asking and just taking the win.

Sounds like they decided to discontinue just before you paid. There are so many discontinuations perhaps their robo system is set for this to happen automatically a few days before court if a victim looks like they are going all the way.

Maybe when their records showed no payment was now due your attempted payment just bounced back.

    They'd already discontinued.

    Just as we predicted.
