F1RST windscreen NtD - query about VRN and appeal
Comments
-
Well, interesting development: neither the wrong VRN or actual VRN work on their online appeal system and I'm certainly not going to be getting in touch with them via any other method. I've checked the notice number many times.
I guess this means one of the following: they inputted the wrong 'actual' VRN by mistake on their systems; they've put an entirely different VRN to try and get me to chase; they've not logged it at all on their systems.
I suppose I will be sitting tight in that case, unless anyone has different advice?3 -
Sit tight, see what (if anything) transpires. I've not checked back on the thread, but take the opportunity to review your V5C (logbook) and the address shown on it, making sure your current address is showing, because it's that address the PPC will use to write to the registered keeper. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Take a screenshot of both pages (the fact you can't appeal at all) in case they resurrect it with a NTK in May.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

We have read, albeit a while ago now, that some PPCs deliberately put an incorrect VRM so that unsuspecting persons phone to correct them and inadvertently give up the driver by saying things like "I parked in somewhere and you've put the VRM AB12CDE instead of ........"5
-
From what I can gather, this OP has only received a windscreen NtD with an incorrect VRM, nothing else. They have tried to log into the PPC website as though to appeal. However, using the NtD number and either the correct VRM or the incorrect one from the NtD, does not bring up any outstanding PCN that can be appealed.
So, if the PPC tried to get driver details using KADOE with an incorrect VRM, either they get told where to go because there is no such VRM or someone else has received the PCN in error. For now, this OP has not had anything through the mail from the PPC which would suggest that the PPC logged the same incorrect VRM as their operative did when they issued the NtD in the first place.
If the PPC had only registered the wrong VRM on the windscreen NtD but had the correct VRM logged into their system, then the OP would have more likely than not received something through the post by now. With all this rushing to try and appeal something that, for now, has the incorrect details, is really just a waste of effort.
Sit back and give it enough time to see if it progresses from a windscreen ticket with erroneous information on it to something slightly more worthy of the effort.1 -
The PPC cannot (should not) obtain keeper data from the DVLA except between day 28 and 56, and the PPC has seven months from the date of the alleged event to issue a NTK.
I don't think the OP has told us when this occurred, so I think it is too early to know if they will get a NTK or not.

It is now day 27, so too early for any potential NtK yet. I can't appeal as the online system won't recognise the details. I've made screenshots of the relevant pages showing the information is not recognised, should I later receive a NtK.Unless you think I should send off a posted appeal (which will be past 28 days)?0

I would send one tomorrow.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
