paulsm said:seeing as you cant trust a word the govt says i want ot turn off the govt alerts, I have android 10 but in notifications I cant see advanced and searching emergency alerts doesnt find anytihng, anyone know how to do it please?Really, the only way to deal with this problem effectively is to smash your phone. Do you need instructions for how to do that?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?8

For those saying "I can't trust this government" - do you really think it's Rishi typing up the alerts and then clicking send?
The reaction to these alerts has often been comical. Yes, turn them off if you really think they're intrusive but in reality you'll just be making yourself oblivious to any real alerts that might help you avoid danger (think London Bridge a few years ago).

Why is everybody fixated on turning off a warning that could save your life.So far it has been activated once as a test. What is the excuse you will give if. having turned it off,ait ctually sounds in a genuine emergency - you miss it and someone is killed or injured dues to your actkions?During the war when the sirens sounded then people took shelter - often there were no bombs dropped anywhere near - ipeople may not have wanted to be disturbed but at least tjey did not moan. For the last couple of hours I have kept heraring warning sirens from Syngenta Chemical works - am I complaining? Not at all I know it is a test being conducted. If it goes off in a genuine emergency and you ignore it who is at fault - not Syngenta but your ;oved ones could be injured or killed because you don't want to be disturbed from your browsing on your phone.3

Then there are those who think shouting loudly about turning it off gives them some sort of kudos.....
