Hi -I'm thinking of investing in either a Tassimo or one of those funky round Krups things, both reduced at the moment - can anyone offer me any recommendations or warnings on these products? Sorry I don't have time to trawl thru all previous threads so I apologise in advance if this topic has been covered before.
Thanks

A Tassimo will limit you to what coffee you can make (ie just those sold for it) so are imo a complete load of tosh.
Buy a normal coffee maker and you can use different coffees, and get better tasting coffee as a result. AND it is likely to be cheaper than one of these 'branded' ones......0 -
Or buy one of those metal stovetop ones-Italian style0

I agree with Davetrousers, you are a lot better with a standard coffee maker than one of those ones that takes "pods" or whatever, they are nice but expensive to buy the coffee for and as Dave says, they are limited on choice of coffee.
With a standard coffee maker you can use whatever coffee you like and make it as strong/weak as you like. I've had a few different coffee makers and now just use a simple coffee plunger rather than a machine. My brother gave me a Senseo machine a while ago and I bought a couple of packs of pods for it and thats it, will be flogging it at the next boot fair I do.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Just buy a Coffee press Bodum are widely available, simple cheapish and won't end up in the cupboard next to the K-Tel autochopper and the Breville toasted sandwich maker.

Make sure you boil the milk in the cup 1st otherwise your coffee will be too cold!Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j

Are you saying you need 2 'pods' for 1 mug of coffee? wow that is not good!.....0 -

Ive seen on ebay conversion kits to allow you to use ground coffee in a senseo to get over the pod expense and choice limitations. I bought a caffeteria type machine instead which you can put anything in apart from the really fine stuff you put in filter machines. You can even put the pods in if you want!Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j

I have tried Tassimo, Senseo, Nespresso & Mokabista - but now use one of these http://www.firebox.com/product/1320?aff=1108 (I bought one from ebay.com (usa) - shipped to UK at about 60% of cost of buying here). Still using it daily a year later.0
