Can you put a timer on your home shower?

In the local leisure centre they have showers that come on for a minute at a time, so can anyone install a timer on their home shower as an effective way to reduce showering times. Saving electric energy and using less water.

If you did install one - and I assume you are asking because you have teens - wouldn’t they just keep hitting the button? And actually if they did, it could run for half a minute longer than needed on that final press.
Or do you mean one like the coin operated ones at camp sites which cut out 15 seconds after getting up to an acceptable temperature, and 30 seconds before you’ve a hope of rinsing the lather out of your hair.Fashion on the Ration

GV, obviously you can, 'cos they have them at the gym. But, as intimated above, is this the best solution?
If this makes life hard for 'legitimate' users, those who need to rinse their hair off suds, will it be annoying? So, what do you want to achieve? And for who? And why?
If it's young family, then perhaps a time for a casual chat about 'costs' of living, and how they will have to address this when they buy their own house, which - on current performance - will have to be pretty damned soon...1 -
What about an alarm that goes off every 3mins?
That would be annoying enough after a while.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

If it's teenagers, the obvious answer is to put the cut-off valve in the hot pipe only. If the timer is set for 10 minutes, they should be out after 9.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
I just switch the boiler off with my teens. Little sod’s ignore me when I say 5 mins max shower !
Bank of mum and dad.
they shout when it goes cold and get out….

OP, would be useful to know how you are heating your water for the showers?
I'm sure I could design and build a system to shut off any shower after a certain time but the cost would likely be £500 region, so probably a non starter1 -
For a mixer type, there is already a product available - https://www.lcigb.com/acqua-tempusI'm sure it would be possible to rig up a timer for an electric shower...
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
