Need to get Microsoft Office but don’t want a 365 subscription. Prefer the one off payment. But want a genuine product download. Have seen some cheap in various sites but concerned they may not be genuine does not have to be the latest Microsoft Office only need a home version with Word and Excel. Any ideas on where for a genuine copy please? Thank you.

I got an Office Professional 2021 key for somebody (and download link at Microsoft) from Amazon for about £30 last year. Curiosly, the seller sent the key and download address by post, but it all installed just fine, and is still in daily use - big download at over 4GB though.

The web version of office 365 is free, you have to be logged into a microsoft account though.Otherwise Libreoffice is free and nearly 100% compatible with word and excel. (I say nearly, as there is bound to be some obscure function that isn't there, but I've never found anything)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

There's no such thing as a one-time purchase for Office 365 as it is now a rolling update product with updates "forever".
You can get the current (possibly last) MS Office 2021 for a one-time purchase:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/p/office-home-student-2021/cfq7ttc0h8n8?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
At £120 it's not cheap though, same as 2 years of Office 365 but if you want 100% official and genuine and supporting the Microsoft company, that is the one to go for.
There are plenty of grey-market products out there where you can get a "second hand" licence key which could be from an enterprise licence or borrowed from an MSDN subscription for example - not guaranteed to work forever but generally do, I've used the above post (UnitySoft) for such products for a decade, well aware I'm breaking Microsoft's licencing terms which is not something I would publicly recommend - up to you, pay the proper price or take a calculated risk.2 -
