Benefit entitlement

From 6th April 2022 to 5th April 2023 I earned £12595. if my partner claims carers allowance from 6th April 2023 at £76.75 a week and I claim contribution esa from 7th Aprill 2023 at £84.80 a week. Will this affect my child tax credit award and reduce my payments?

Thanks.

Yes because they are both taken into account for tax credit calculation.

Tax credits is based on the previous years income unless there's a £2,500 difference, which there will be but whether they will be reduced will depend on the figures. Try using a benefits calculator to see what figures it comes up with.

So just done a calculation on Entitlementto I have entered £12595 income from employment tax year 6th April 2022 to 5th April 2023. I have also entered that I claim ESA and carers allowance but not in the 6th April 2022 to 5th April 2023 tax year. Its showing no reduction have I done the calculation properly?

    Thanks

    Confused…sorry
Entered earnings of £12595 for last years tax year - where from? But no ESA for that year.
Partner - so I assume joint account any income for last tax year?

So what’s changed, your thinking of claiming ESA and your partner CA, makes sense.  However tax credit is being phased out and you will be at some point pushed onto UC.

Going from a previous thread they claimed SSP for 28 weeks from their employer and this has now ended. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6439156/esa-sick-note#latest
