Decent go away payments for many people who were not miss-sold, what a screw up by VW and what a ridiculous show in the UK that they made payouts for cars on the basis of cheat tests that only affected the US markets. Crazy world we live in
Agreed, wholeheartedly. I reckon less than 5% of the claimants ever gave a thought to emissions when they bought their car. Although it would appear people are getting payments it’d be interesting to learn just how much the ‘legals’ are making.

I received a letter from Milberg stating I have a pay out for VW emissions; responded by email and then received an email from some one allegedly at Milberg asking me to sign in at Sheildpay; II did this and it asked me to contact my bank to give verification of my bank account, gave the sort code and account number then had cold feet and did not pursue it further. One day later my bank account has been emptied of funds. This may be coincidental or not but would be interested in any similar experiences.
You should be reporting this to your bank, Action Fraud and the Police.  I assume you have done so.  What did any of these say?
  • There are some very sore egos that were sure this would come to nothing. "What was your loss?", they often asked.

It's quite amusing watching the reaction now. Sour grapes is a bit of an understatement.

They couldn't drain your account with just the account number and sort code. If this was the cause then there must be more to this story.

Well they are not doing it pro bono 🤣

Expect far more than any pay out to the consumer will be.

We will all be paying for it in increased charges for cars and servicing etc.  You don't think this will come from their profits do you?

It should have come to nothing. VW should have fought it in Court and won, but no doubt there was some reason (probably tax) to buy the litigation out when they did.

It is hardly "fair" or "just" that people "deserve" free money simply for finding out that they can claim it.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Quite agree. Worked with a woman who bought a VW Tiguan several years ago. Her husband had one as a company car and it suited their life - new baby, all the equipment that entailed and more to the point a very good p/ex and even better finance deal. Never gave a thought to the vehicles emissions and yet when the circulars came out she felt fully justified in making claims 😳 No idea of the outcome as I’ve since retired
  • It's just a shame that the rest of us can't claim for breathing it in, but at least it seems to have spurred VW to invest in EVs.

Firstly I stupidly didn't make a claim. The software update reduced fuel consumption, performance, and power.
Every month the engine management light would come on, and a DPF fault was recorded. Audi wanted to change the DPF for a cost, well lets say it's over a £1000.
A VW independent specialist looked checked the DPF and it was fine (the car was doing regular longer journeys so shouldn't have been a problem, and never was a problem.)
The cheapest solution was to have it mapped out. Some people never had this problem, but many did.
It wasn't the car that I bought, and don't understand why anyone should have a problem for making a claim,
