Has anyone received money from their Diesel Emission Claim

I note that the Money Saving Expert page describing the Diesel Emissions scandal says this about the VW Group: "The case was settled out of court in May 2022 for £193 million, with VW Group also making a separate undisclosed contribution to claimants' legal costs. It's not clear how much individual claimants will get after all fees and costs are deducted – the law firms involved say this is confidential due to the terms of the settlement." We're coming up to a year since this settlement, so has any driver received anything from their claim after registering with the law firms who advertise they'll pursue your claim. On the page it says Pogust Goodhead (My Diesel Claim)  had 1,200,000 registrations and there were another 4 or so law firms with hundreds of thousands registered. I'm still seeing 'My Diesel Claim' adverts on TV today saying drivers are entitled to thousands in compensation. That £193 million isn't going very far amongst the claimants before the law firms take their cut. What's happened in the real world, not the thousands in the TV adverts...maybe a fiver each?!

Was previously on an owners forum and a relative of a member had received a payout but apparently been told not to divulge how much it was. Believe it was under £2k but no idea how that was made up.
Many claimants simply jumping on board to hopefully make a quick buck. How many diesel car owners could honestly say they were misled over their vehicles emissions?

Exactly this - given none of the manufacturers involved provided Nox emissions data in their consumer communications in the period in question

They more than lost performance, the car went into limp mode.

i think the lady whose car went into limp mode on the motorway resulting in a HGV crashing into the back of her  lost more than ' performance'.

Was the fix the actual cause of the limp mode or another fault though?  Many cars for sale with fault codes showing.  They don't normally
just stop instantly causing accidents. They usually reduce power and speed limited to 50mph.  I collected a car and drove it over 200 miles
in limp mode, it would do 70mph in top gear on the flat but slowed on the hills to 50mph. I have more experience driving cars with
issues so more prepared than the average driver.  Possible cause of the accident maybe the driver getting a warning light and braking?

Interesting. Did you submit the claim yourself as an individual or did you go through one of the companies advertising their services such as  Pogust Goodhead (My Diesel Claim)   or any of the other companies mentioned in Martin's Diesel Claims article? When did you get the money?

  • I received £1700 having joined the Group Action claim through Slater & Gordon.

  • I received a letter from Milberg stating I have a pay out for VW emissions; responded by email and then received an email from some one allegedly at Milberg asking me to sign in at Sheildpay; II did this and it asked me to contact my bank to give verification of my bank account, gave the sort code and account number then had cold feet and did not pursue it further. One day later my bank account has been emptied of funds. This may be coincidental or not but would be interested in any similar experiences.

Decent go away payments for many people who were not miss-sold, what a screw up by VW and what a ridiculous show in the UK that they made payouts for cars on the basis of cheat tests that only affected the US markets. Crazy world we live in

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
