Mobile rang 2 people at same time

My husband was on the phone to a building society and was going down the queue from 30 to 18. The on caller number 18, someone answered the phone & it was someone in his phone contact list. How is that even possible. Mid sentence with the person, it then went back to the building society.

How is this even possible???

He accidentally pressed the button to join someone else in to the call?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I'm thinking this, in conjunction with the phone's proximity sensor not working correctly, so the touchscreen was still active and it was his ear triggering actions.

Part of why you now see people holding their phones in front of them and not up to their ear when making calls.

I discovered that when I was supporting a 90-year-old relative to call someone from hospital. Took us ages to realise that her ear had accidentally put the phone on mute.

It's in a similar class to 'pocket calling' where your bum or leg calls someone in your contacts.
Tip, put your phone in your pants pocket with the screen facing outwards to avoid that happening.

I do this because I'm conscious of the hearing damage I have already sustained, and am trying to limit it in the future.
It lets both ears "have a go", also when on interminable hold, I can just leave the phone on the table and do something useful.

I never put anything in, or against my ears now (when the proverbial horse has already bolted.....)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I don't have pockets in my pants - did you mean trousers?

I always have the screen facing my leg so there is less chance of the screen getting damaged if the pocket knocks in to something.  I don’t like full book type phone covers and I’ve luckily never leg dialled anyone.
