Faulty washing machine fb business seller refusing to reimburse

I brought a second hand washing described as good condition from facebook marketplace and the bearings are worn out(plus it was caked in mould which i cant remove all off) so i contacted seller after ignoring me for a week, he started getting abusive (f's and c') and refused to reimburse and collect.
He has multiple items on there each week so presume he's a business seller.
Went to the police as a quick search showed he went to prison for stealing 60k from his friends/clients few years ago and they told me to go to small claims court, but I can't find his business address. Is it still possible?
Is there anything else i can do?
I understand i have a minimum of 14 days after receiving your item to decide if you want to keep it, and a further 14 days to send the item back after notifying the business of your return. But cant enforce that on somebody who just swears at me.
Thanks for reading and any help given.

To serve any sort of legal documents you are going to need an address, you would also need to prove seller was operating in the course of a business and many of these traders stay well under the radar.

I think you may have to accept that you aren't going to be able to do anything about this, It's difficult to see any way of tracking down the seller and also proving he was acting as a business.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. if i can track him down can i go to the council to complain about him acting as a business? or inland revenue?0 -
You can if you like, but it won't get you anywhere, as neither body will be interested (like the police) and doing so wouldn't help get your money back, which is surely more important here?ex-homelessdude2 said:if i can track him down can i go to the council to complain about him acting as a business? or inland revenue?0 -
