I was looking for an iPhone 13 contract with no upfront cost so I went on this site to identify the best deal. MSE said the best deal was with Three at £39 per month. Luckily I mentioned it to my friend who said that was a terrible deal and that Tesco were offering the same phone for £32.99. I went onto the Tesco mobile site and it was true. So a warning, check out other sites as MSE don’t always show you the best deal.

Yeah it tells you this at the bottom of the page: "while we always aim to give you accurate product info at the point of publication, unfortunately price and terms of products and deals can always be changed by the provider afterwards, so double check first."

That being said, a lot depends on what network you can get a signal on.  If you can't get a decent o2 signal its pointless going with Tesco Mobile.
  • Do people actually take references as absolutes?

As Neil_Jones states a great deal is of no use if you can't use it.

Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

I have been on O2 for years and their coverage is excellent (miles better than EE). For the vast majority of the Uk the Tesco deal is significantly better that The MSE rec. strangely Tesco mobile is listed on the MSE filters but it returns no deals - clearly an error I think.
  • If O2 provide the best coverage for you and the Tesco deal is good then it makes sense to get that.

For my needs O2 has been the poorest of the 4 networks as regards coverage and their customer service the worst of any company I have ever come across.

I can't see a deal on the Tesco website comparable to the Three £39 one. (24 months 100GB of data)

    Was it a special offer?

  • Aren't Tesco deals usually three year contracts rather than two?
    Are you comparing like-for-like?

Not that luckily, tbh, the Tesco Mobile deal is with only 3GB or 6GB of data and is a THREE YEAR contract.

Did some digging on the costs.

The MSE Three deal for the iPhone 13 will cost you £881.

Your friend's Tesco deal for the iPhone 13 will cost you £1187.

The "terrible deal" you avoided means it's going to cost you an extra £300 for the phone and a lot less data...
