SSE pirating

hi, this is really long so just the main parts, I am getting CAB to help at the moment.

I was with British Gas then went over to Octopus.  I had an email from SSE telling me they were taking my account over and I emailed back saying no thanks.

Two years later I started getting invoices from them in a name that wasn't mine.  I wrote politely that I was with Octopus, and long story short, they faked a warrant, sent threatening bailiff letters (dogs and locksmiths), took away my electricity meter, put in their own pre pay meter, left me in the dark three separate nights, I lost all my freezer food, broke my fridge, you name it.

I went to the Ombudsman who said SSE would have to apologise by taking 3 x £60 off my bill.

I didn't get any correspondence from SSE through the entire complaint.  I am now receiving more threatening invoices.  I am back with Octopus.

Has anybody else suffered like this?

Sounds like somebody else gave a wrong meter number and your supply was moved to SSE in error, that is the reason for the wrong name on the bill.

Did you contact Octopus when you got the information that your supply is moved and did you follow up with SSE that they stopped moving your supply?

Did you continue to pay Octopus and did you receive invoices from them? When you say you are back with Octopus b=very likely not?

    Did you pay anybody?

I doubt this would be a case where back billing rules would work, the way it sounds SSE did send bills, just with a wrong name, because that is the name they had on there books.

@DeeDeeDeeDeeDeeDee did you ever receive a final bill from Octopus?

Erroneous Transfers of Supply is an industry-wide problem. With respect, you should have done more. Had you called Octopus and apprised it of the issue, Octopus would have invoked the Erroneous Transfer of Supply Code. It would have stopped the transfer; reversed it back if necessary and paid you compensation. The basic principle is that you would have paid Octopus even for the period that you were with SSE. What happened to Octopus billing during the period that you were with SSE?

From what you've said, after sending one email to SSE, you then stuck your head in the sand, and did nothing to correct the problem until it spiralled out of control.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I doubt that we will get any more information. OP has posted more than half a year ago without coming back
