Sorry meant to say I have broadband and would only require the same.0

You need to give Virgin notice as per your contract.
As Virgin use their own infrastructure any other ISP would provide service over a copper phone line or a fibre optic cable and if you have neither already in your home you would need a new installation.1 -
Thought so. That puts me in a difficult situation, I will have to pay to have a phone line installed,or a different fibre optic.0

@beduth a new full fibre installation should be free if you agree to take a fixed term contract.
In some exchange areas copper phone lines are no longer available for new installations, the so called "stop sell" policy due to the future withdrawal of services over that medium.1 -

Quite a few ISPs now offer VoIP with a FTTP service but the OP would need Openreach, City Fibre or whoever to run a new cable as Virgin do not share their network.0 -
Called virgin to leave today , was almost threatened that if we left ( after years and years ) it could effect our credit rating 😡😡😡 and we’d have to pay an exit fee of £89 …..how can this be …..contract expires in November apparently….any advice please . Nb leaving as service has become so very poor even with internal boosters (3) and many complaints ….0

what is their reason for charging an exit fee? Is it because it's before the contract ends? If so this should be shown in their T&Cs.
Credit rating doesn't actually exist. But you do have a credit history. If you have paid your bills on time then there's nothing negative that will be shown. Likely if someone looked it will show a contact with Virgin for £££ that goes down each month by the amount you pay which should go to zero at the end of the contract having made all the required payments. If you leave early and pay an exit fee there will be no negative mention of this on your history. Any future creditor will look and see everything showing as "green" and "satisfied". If Virgin reported anything else then you would have cause to complain as the information would be incorrect.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
