Ryanair Baggage Claim Catch 22

I flew in from Edinburgh to Alicante on 25aug22 to find my suitcase was seriously damaged and I had to drag it from the airport.
The Ryanair desk was closed so I couldn’t get a claim form. I have been writing to Ryanair for the past 8 months but they still insist on me sending a non existent form. I have photos taken at the airport at the time and have sent them many times.
The European directive on baggage compensation states that it is sufficient to claim in writing and needs no particular form. Ryanair is still hiding behind its insistence on a form I couldn’t get. Anyone else had this issue?

I had the same problem in October, been going round in circles. Last attempt was trying to send them a letter but at the time Royal Mail was not taking overseas post (all other modes off communication kept referencing back to form or they closed the files as 'solved' I also sent them photos and also the original receipt as they request that in their claim form - case was 2 weeks old)
Might revisit my files over the next couple of days and see if I can get that letter sent.0 -
There is a form on the Ryanair website for damaged baggage claim, but the sticking point may be that it seems to only apply if the damage was reported at the arrival airport and a Property Irregularity Report issued along with a 10 character reference that has to be included on the claim form.0

this is the issue, cannot complete without a PIR - my delayed flight arrive Manchester with no-one in the baggage hall and after all the checkin desks were closed for the night (wandered around the whole terminal looking for staff) there were still 2 flights to depart however no way of knowing whether the staff that would board the passengers would return to the terminal or just go home. Eventually found a Manchester Airport employee who suggested to take photos, as soon as got in tried chat but only a bot. Got a real person next morning who told me which form to complete (not the baggage one) only to find they closed it as 'solved' with no contact....all forms of contact resulted in boilerplate response to fill in the form if relating to baggage!0

You usually have to report damaged luggage at the airport, not to the Ryanair desk but to another desk that deals with damaged luggage. We did this at LHR in March and got a new case sent to us.1

Ryanair has a UK office so you could just go the Small Claims Court route.0

This office does not deal with any claims related to Ryanair DAC, Malta Air, Buzz or Lauda Europe and these are separate companies with their own crew, aircraft and procedures..💙💛 💔0 -

This is fairly standard with most airlines though, needs to be reported before you leave the baggage hall.0
