Can they increase the price

I signed up for new broadband provider in Nov last year but didn't actually get moved until March 2023. In February I had an email to say my price was going up by £NULL in March. However they have put it up saying they apologies for the error in the email and the price has increased as per my contract.
As I didn't have the promised service until the price rise and a letter saying it wont go up can they still put it up?

Yes because that's what you agreed to in the first place.

Why has it taken four months to move provider?  Surely you should get compensation which will make up for the automatic increase, asssuming its a provider on the Ofcom list and there's a valid reason not to pay it:

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/costs-and-billing/automatic-compensation-need-know - " Delays with the start of a new service ... the provider promises to start a new service on a particular date but fails to do so, compensation is £5.83 for each calendar day of delay".
