Do agents with multiple branches sell houses in other areas? And is the market picking up?

Son bought outside his target area because an agent persuaded him to look at the property. So I think it does work. Agent was purple bricks which generally gets a bad press.

Are you implying that if your house was marketed by the agent in the 'trendy young area' that someone wanting to buy there might see your house and suddenly think they'd buy in your area instead because it's decorated in a 'trendy young style' ?

If the trendy area is more expensive, that’s not an unreasonable hope.

Trendy young person can’t afford the accommodation they need in the trendy area, so they might be willing to look further afield.

Correct! But I think buyers generally work out for themselves if they can't find anything in their price range in a given area that they need to look at other areas.

The OP's property comes up on RM searches apparently so when those buyers start increasing the 'within X miles' option in the search menu it should show up.

If the OP isn't getting any interest it's probably more to do with the price and or local market that choice of EA.

Sometimes buyers need a push to look further afield.

As a buyer I can confirm an agent with multiple branches is marketing all properties on their books. I’ve spoken to different branches about properties I’ve viewed and also the one I sold. They had access to all notes and where I want dealing with a specific person at my local office they just passed on the message or gave me an update.

Have you considered putting the house neutral? Have you asked the agent you are with why they think they aren’t getting viewings? Have you asked if there is any interest in your property at all?

I have not once stepped foot into an agents Branch, all searches have been online mainly by Rightmove. The agent marketing the property has no impact on whether I view or not
I had a different experience with multiple branches as turns out they were franchised and didn’t actually communicate!

I got a lot of helpful advice when I posted a link to RM when selling, much more use than the estate agents! I repainted kids rooms to make them seem bigger and the outside of the house to improve kerb appeal- it worked and we got over asking price

We changed agents after the first weeks sole agent period lapsed.  The second agent was also local with around the same number of branches (about 8-10), but the difference was a back-scratching agreement they seemed to have with other independent agents in adjoining counties.  So a couple retiring from Kingston on Thames who couldn't afford Brighton so thought they couldn't afford to live on the South coast was shown our details.  They offered the full asking price on the spot (2018).  They were chuffed to find our house with one bedroom more than they were selling, with a drive, garage, gardens, five minutes walk from the beach, with money in the bank after their purchase.  They thought they'd hit the jackpot.
Changing agents can't do any harm and might just work.
