EE Sim Only Price Increases

Happened to phone EE this morning to check out the price increase which had been applied to my April bill.

Very helpful Customer Services checked the figures and admitted that I had been overcharged. It turned out that I was not the only customer this had happened to due to a flaw in the billing process.

Don't remember reading anything about this in the news nor have I received any communication from EE informing me of this issue.

So for any EE mobile customers reading this post, you may well wish to check out your own April bill!

Could you give a bit more detail? How was the bill wrong? Wrong percentage increase applied? What was the monetary difference to the corrected bill?

The plan is a 12M SIM Essential (it may well be a legacy contract now) and the "top line" before applied discounts had increased from £15.88 pm to £23.75 pm.

Even taking account of the formula which EE is allowed to apply under the T&Cs this did seem a very substantial increase on the face of it.

It's difficult for me to determine what the correct situation is until I receive a new adjusted bill which I guess will not happen until the beginning of next month, but the net effect in terms of the DD monthly amount will be a modest increase of just over £1 so it was well worth taking the time to make the phone call.
