PBs- maximum holding

I have recently tried to up my PB holding to the maximum but the website won't let me, saying my deposit would take me above the maximum holding, which it would not.  So I increased holding to £49K, all fine, but wouldn't let me add the final £1K.  Tried to call them but got precisely nowhere with some new chatbot.  It isn't the end of the world, just annoying.  Any ideas?

Seems a bit strange. If you'd rather not bother with their useless customer services,  I guess you could choose to have any winnings added to your premium bonds.

Your grandmother bought you one in 1964. You’ve won a prize you’ve not accounted for.

I wish!  Wasn't born then and definitely never had any gifted
  • Does seem odd. Have you tried buying 999, then 998, etc. It might give you a clue as to what's going on. If it lets you buy 999 you're not missing much. Or perhaps you could post a cheque for £1,000 then an actual person would have to open the envelope and deal with it and spot the problem if there is one and presumably explain to you what it is, or add your new bonds if it's just a system glitch.

Possibly you won a small prize in the latest draw, which is in the course of being automatically added to your holding in the next day or two?

They plainly think you have more bonds than you do, but as to who is right, only they can confirm.

We could speculate about it all day. Or you could phone them, persevere to get past all the systems until you speak to a human, and solve the conundrum.

Do let us know the outcome.

When did you try topping up?

Did you have unpaid wins in April?

    The minimum deposit is £25.

When about to buy PBs the website displays a personalised Minimum and Maximum amount. Is the Maximum now £1000 or a smaller amount? If smaller, at least you know how many more you can buy, if £1000 it's weird.

I checked the postal form before I wrote my post and it says Min £25, Max £50,000 - I didn't see anything about it having to be in multiples of 25.
