Can I open 2 cash ISAs if 1 is just a transfer?

I'm thinking of transferring my existing  Virgin variable isa from 22/23 to a Santander fixed isa, but I wondered if this would prevent me opening another variable isa with Halifax and putting my 23/24 allowance in it?

Transfers don't count towards your ISA allowance, so you'll be fine to do that.

I was just looking at opening a Flexible Cash ISA account with FordMoney, the application specifically asks have I "opened" a Cash ISA this FY.

Well yes I have, I've just opened a VM 2yr fixed cash ISA and transferred an old ISA - and that is where the application has stalled...

Those declarations are often badly worded so I just accept and ignore them now, because I know I'm not breaking any rules.

If you have not added any new money to an ISA this FY, then just say No to these questions.
