Playing BBC radio on group of Google Home speakers suddenly doesn't work

I've had a set of 4 Google speakers link together in one group called "Example" for a few years and I use them to play Radio 4 throughout my place with them all synced and it's worked fine until now. I used to say "OK Google stream Radio 4 on Example" and it'd do it - now it just says "I can't do that yet".
"When I say OK Google play BBC Radio 4" it says
"I can't do that here but you can ask me to do it on one of your other devices"
Has anyone else had this problem and found a way round it?

Yes, had the problem yesterday afternoon. It worked perfectly in the morning!
As far as I know, Google doesn't (yet?) support BBC Sounds and indeed asking it to play something specifically from BBC Sounds never has worked.
In the last day or so I have seen BBC ads suggesting that you can play their radio stations, just by using the phrase you tried so I had just assumed this was a new feature and was having teething problems?
I'll try it again later today or tomorrow.0 -
It’s a known issue. From the website.
Why can't I listen to live BBC radio on my Google speaker?
Smart speaker | Under investigation
*** Wednesday 5 April ***
We're aware of reports that live BBC streams aren't working on some Google Home, Nest and Mini devices.
We are investigating and will update this page when we know more.
In the meantime, affected users may wish to cast to their speaker from the BBC Sounds mobile
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
I've only ever asked Google just to play whatever radio station and haven't used BBC Sounds app at all. Never had a problem, unless the system went down, which is rare.Undervalued said:Yes, had the problem yesterday afternoon. It worked perfectly in the morning!

Elsien's post at 2:16 explains why. It’s a known issue that the BBC are investigating, but bear in mind it’s a Bank Holiday weekend.Undervalued said:

If this is anything like the "issues" the BBC had with iPlayer in the early days of the TV Google Chromecast, it could be on and off for months!Username03725 said:

It also happened to me on Saturday. It proved to be the end of 'Google' for me. I replaced the Google nest I got free from BT with a spare 'Alexa' off my son, so I'm all Alexa throughout the house now."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

Have posted in BBC and Google forums and neither has come up with a satisfactory response, nor is the issue fixed in over a week of real annoyance for me. I do not want to have to cast radio from my phone or tablet to the speaker. I simply want to ask the now very UNsmart speaker to play BBC radio, why should I even be considering getting rid of my perfectly good LG speaker in favour of an Amazon product?1
