Huge mid contract price increases

Looking around at SIM only offers for a neighbour who takes a lot of European holidays, it became apparent that several of the “free EU roaming” networks also include significant mid-contract price rises. In some cases it exceeds 17% this year (O2).

The prices of new SIM only contracts are often less than the current one, when around 17% is added.

Clearly sticking with an existing contract to take advantage of benefits, such as free EU roaming, is progressively more expensive and will push consumers into switching to a new contract with potentially worse terms and conditions.

Three basically bumped customers off existing contracts by terminating old contracts, some others are more subtle, but will achieve the same end result.
