Fibre not fibre

hi, thought i'd share some recent learning on fibre broadband - folk may already know this but was news to me
In last few months had loads of problems with our talk talk 'fibre' broadband - frequent disconnections and downtime - long story short ended up terminating talk talk contract and am switching to sky
Open reach engineer knocked on the door yesterday (surprise to us) to install our fibre line (for sky) - turns out our talk talk fibre only extended as far as the green box some 100+ yards away from the house. This engineer has now installed a new fibre line at the green box, up the pole across the road and to our property where it terminates at a new fibre box just outside our front door. When the sky guy comes in a few weeks time he will then install the sky router directly into this fibre box thus giving us 'full fibre'
The old copper line can then be removed
Not definite but the engineer did say that the issues we were having with talk talk was likely down to the old copper cable and associated infrastructure (all of which would be original from whenever the phone line was installed here - likely 50+ years ago)
We were paying £26/month for talktalk (which was about to go up with inflation), sky is £30/month and zero set up fee - so simply by moving to sky I will now have a brand new full fibre cable installed from my house to the exchange box - quite happy with that
Hope this is useful to anyone experiencing similar problems with old copper cabling
Thanks

Your ‘new’ FTTP doesn’t come from the ‘green box’ , the FTTP network would have recently been built with a CBT on your serving ‘pole’ , which in turn is served from a ‘splitter node’ , the fibres from that go back to the serving headend , it’s possible the FTTC cabinet is also served by the same headend, but your FTTP doesn’t use the FTTC cabinet0

In any case I have a shiny new cable so i'm happy

Also worth knowing that if you require a phone service ,not all ISPs are offering one with "full" fibre and even if they are ,retaining your old phone number may be problematic if not impossible. This can be a problem ,if ,like me, mobile coverage is all but unusable.0

Good luck.. I live in Salisbury where they've installed a whole new fibre network... I live in a flat in where they've installed a duct from the road but little else. From what I can gather, I surveyor has been out and it's 'really difficult to do.

Has the freeholder given permission? This is often a problem with MDU's0
