Ni credits - grandparents

I filled out the relevant forms to claim this and sent them off. It's been quite a while now, at least a few months, even a year ago. I'd forgotten about it tbh. Has anyone else claimed? Did they notify you or the person whose credits you were taking? Not sure if I should have heard and how we'd know.
Thanks

You could check your NI record via your online tax account (or state pension forecast if under state pension age) to see if the credits have actually been allocated.
The NI phone helpline sheramber highlights above, and the corresponding postal service, are currently both extremely stretched with people trying to make voluntary NI contributions to boost their state pension, so expect a long wait if you do decide to call at present.
And if the date you posted the forms is closer to a 'few months' than 'even a year ago' then they may not have even got round to processing it as apparently they currently have a mail backlog going back months.0 -
Yes, that's what has stopped me phoning. I know it's probably bedlam at the moment.p00hsticks said:You could check your NI record via your online tax account (or state pension forecast if under state pension age) to see if the credits have actually been allocated.

Phone call with HMRC this morning. The response time backlog is now c29 weeks and they are currently dealing with applications from Oct 2022. My application was received by them in mid-Feb so I will be lucky if I receive a response by Sept. I was assured that any shortfall amounts I have to pay will not increase post-July 23. They are prioritising the thousands of phone calls they are receiving hence the backlog is not being cleared.
