So just to add, I finally got an e-mail reply after going through their live chat for the sixth time.
They gave me an e-mail I could reply to where I could write the reason why I wanted to cancel my account and come out of my contract early.
I explained my financial situation isn't the best in these tough times (for everyone) and that I cannot afford to be tied to this for a year. I also explained again that during their sign-up process, there was nowhere where it stated clearly that I was signing up for a year's contract - it even makes it look like you are signing up on a month-to-month basis, and lastly I said they could even take their £65 "compensation fee" for taking their bullsh*t compatibility test, as long as they cancelled my account and further payments.
They have replied rejecting this, and saying that they will no longer be replying to any of my e-mails or dealing with any further requests to cancel my account. Their lack of compassion is alarming. Some support service they are. They are a total con job.
I will now need to go to the bank and have them cut eHarmony off from taking any further payments, although I am concerned that this will cause trouble for me.0 -
They can employ debt collectors. As asking the bank to stop payments, does not end the contract.frugal_sharkey said:I will now need to go to the bank and have them cut eHarmony off from taking any further payments, although I am concerned that this will cause trouble for me.Life in the slow lane0 -

I wouldn't worry about it. The question is whether they will issue court proceedings for £60? They might, but probably not. Deal with that if they actually do so.frugal_sharkey said:

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

£65 was the cost to exit in the cooling off period, not the monthly charge for the site though.sheramber said:

I assume typical monthly fees are in the 20-30 quid range so I imagine a years worth of subs are a few hundred pounds, maybe £500 max.
Whether that's enough to make it worth their while pursuing I don't know - I suspect they can probably expect some letters and calls from a debt collection agency.0
