Have you looked into donating to the british heart foundation? I know round here they will collect as long as the items are in good, clean condition with the relevant safety tags. It might also be worth getting in contact with the council, not for disposal but to find out if they have any community groups that might support people, whether going into temporary accommodation or those who may not have anything.
When my father-in-law died BHF wanted to charge to take the items they liked and would leave the rest!

OP, ask the estate agent, ours knew all the right people.
I can understand the BHF approach though, people probably try to offload dross/stuff which the BHF can't sell - and they'll need to pay for disposal of that stuff.

If you do not have a van or trailer of your own and some willing volunteers to help you, expect to pay a lot of money for what you want to do.

Try asking the estate agent, as if the sale doesn’t complete then they won’t get there commission.

She will ask the estate agent but as she lives over 4 hours drive away arranging things is not easy.

We sold father-in-law's house from a few hundred miles away, the estate agent was great and helped with this sort of thing. Unfortunately not all estate agents are great.

Register with all the nearby 'freecycle' groups and put them on there.
That would require someone being present for people to collect. Not much use if you live miles away.
Good luck OP. Having had to clear a close relative’s house in Devon from a distance, you have my sympathy.

One option is to sell the flat with the stuff in it. That then gives the buyers the job of clearing it, but they may be local, so it’s easier for them. Property is normally sold empty of possessions, but there’s nothing to stop you agreeing something else with the buyers. With a suitable price Reduction obviously.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
